Karon Viewpoint (Kata–Karon Viewpoint): the three beaches from above
The Karon Viewpoint, also called the Kata–Karon Viewpoint, is a lookout on the road between Kata Noi and Nai Harn. It gives a panorama of three bays in one glance: Kata Noi, Kata and Karon, with the islets offshore. It is one of the most famous photos of Phuket, and a quick stop when you are travelling by scooter or taxi between the southern beaches. The stop usually takes about half an hour.
Highlights

The panorama
From the lookout the coast stretches out in successive bays edged with pale sand. The view is clearest in fine weather.

The three beaches
Kata Noi in the foreground, then Kata and Karon: a good way to understand the geography of the coast before choosing where to stay. Details in the Kata and Karon guide.
Stalls and photos
Drink and souvenir sellers set up around the lookout. Continue to Cape Phromthep or Nai Harn Beach, further south.
Practical info
Tips
- The viewpoint is beside the road on a winding stretch used by scooters: park carefully and do not take photos from the carriageway. Come early in the morning or late in the day for the light and to avoid tour buses. No official source was found on access, opening hours or any entry fee: the site is generally described as free to enter, to be confirmed on the spot. To see the beaches from above, see Kata and Karon.
How to get there
The lookout is on the coast road linking Kata Noi to Nai Harn, south of Kata. You can reach it by taxi or Grab, or by scooter, with the care the road demands. Few public transport services pass directly.
