Quick answer: Kata Noi is the smallest and quietest of the three Kata-Karon beaches, south of Kata Yai, about 5 minutes by car from Kata. It suits a quiet half day or a stay in a beachfront hotel. Swimming is advised from November to April; from May to October, waves and currents. Kata Noi ("little Kata") is a crescent of pale sand, framed by rocks at both ends and a wooded hill. There are fewer people and fewer shops than on Kata Yai and Karon: a few beachfront hotels, restaurants on the beach and sunbeds to hire. It is the beach for those who prefer calm to bustle.

Tips
- Swimming becomes dangerous from May to October: respect the red flags and swim only in supervised areas. Sunbeds are hired on the sand; compare prices and ask before settling in. There are few parking spaces: arrive early or take a taxi, or a scooter with care on the hilly road. Accommodation is dearer than at Kata Yai; if you want lower prices, stay at Kata Yai (about 5 to 10 minutes by car) and come here during the day. For the other Kata beach, read Kata beach; for the area, Kata and Karon and the Kata and Karon guide; for the lookout, Karon viewpoint.
