Yanui (Ya Nui) Beach in Phuket: snorkeling, access and tips (2026 guide)
Yanui (also spelled Ya Nui) is a small cove about 300 metres long at the southern tip of Phuket, between the windmill viewpoint and Promthep Cape. Access is free. It is mostly worth a visit for the snorkeling: the rocks on each side shelter tropical fish and sea urchins, and guides quote visibility of 10 to 15 metres. For a calm swim, the northern end is the most pleasant.
Highlights

The Yanui cove
A small beach ringed by rocks, with longtail boats offshore and the Promthep Cape road just above.
Snorkeling on the rocks
Rent a mask and snorkel from the small shops near the car park, or bring your own. Stay close to shore: currents can be unpredictable beyond the sheltered cove.
Kayak to Koh Man
Many visitors rent a kayak and paddle to the small islet of Koh Man, where snorkeling is said to be better.

Tips
- Come at high tide: at low tide the beach turns rocky and swimming is hard, especially with children. The beach is busy in high season, so arrive early. For a proper swimming beach, Nai Harn is a few minutes away; for sunset, continue to Promthep Cape. If you want more fish, a trip to Racha or Coral leaves from Rawai. The information comes from hotel and travel guides, not an official site.
How to get there
In the south of the island, about 15 minutes by car from Nai Harn and 5 to 10 minutes from Rawai (estimate from hotel guides). Taxi, Grab or scooter; there is a small car park. See getting around Phuket.
