Naithon (Nai Thon) Beach in Phuket: swimming, hotels and getting there from the airport (2026)
Naithon is a long, quiet beach on Phuket's northwest coast, about 7 km from the international airport (15 to 25 minutes by taxi according to guides). Access is free and there are few restaurants and shops: this is a beach for calm, not for partying. Swimming is mainly safe from November to April; from July to November the monsoon brings waves and currents, and one guide advises against it.
Highlights

The beach and its wooden pier
A wide, uncrowded beach lined with trees, with simple restaurants on the road side.
The beachfront hotels
The Pullman Phuket Arcadia Naithon (on the beach) and Naithonburi Beach Resort (4-star, across from the beach) are the two most quoted; simpler places like Seaside Naithon are a few minutes' walk away.
The neighbouring coves
Naithon Noi, smaller and very private, is close by. For islands or tours you need a hotel transfer.

Tips
- Waves and currents are stronger than in the south of the island: suited to confident swimmers, less to young children. Look for the red flag before swimming, especially in the rainy season. Nightlife is almost absent: plan a taxi or Grab to dine elsewhere. A handy place to sleep before an early flight; see the airport and nearby beaches. For more life, Bang Tao and Surin are further south. Distances come from hotel and travel sites.
How to get there
Northwest coast, about 7 km from Phuket airport and 45 minutes to 1 hour from Phuket Town depending on traffic (estimate). Taxi or Grab; scooter rental possible. See getting around Phuket.
