Thai boxing in Phuket: stadiums, tickets and tips

Updated on October 19, 2026

Watching a Thai boxing (muay thai) fight is one of Phuket's most popular outings. The stadium best known to visitors is the Bangla Boxing Stadium in Patong, on Soi Banzaan, near Bangla Road. The evenings mix bouts between young Thai boxers and, depending on the card, foreign fighters, set to the traditional orchestra and the pre-fight dance ritual (wai khru). According to a travel guide updated in October 2026, stadium seats cost about 1,500 to 1,600 THB and ringside (VIP) about 1,900 to 2,000 THB, depending on the seller. Fights are advertised every evening, with a first bout around 9 pm, but some sources list only a few nights a week: confirm the date before buying.

Highlights

The Bangla Boxing Stadium

The Bangla Boxing Stadium

Patong's arena is recognisable by its façade decorated with sculpted boxers and its signs. Check the exact address: some sites still give the old address on Bangla Road, but the stadium is on Soi Banzaan.

The pre-fight ritual

Before each bout the boxers perform the wai khru, a dance of respect for their master, to the orchestra's music: it is one of the most interesting moments for anyone discovering the sport.

Ringside or stands

Ringside gives the closest view of the ring; the stands are enough to follow the atmosphere. Prices vary with the seller, hotel and agency, and a T-shirt is sometimes included.

Other stadiums

Phuket has other stadiums and training gyms; if you want to try it yourself, several camps offer drop-in classes.

Tips

  • Compare the price on the spot and at agencies, which sometimes add a hotel transfer. Bring small notes: boxers may ask for a tip after the fight, around 50 THB according to one guide. The fights can be violent and loud; they are not suited to young children. To round off the evening, see Patong and Simon Cabaret.
