Where to play in the water

  • Patong: the centre of the party, very noisy, with Bangla Road and the beach. A 2026 report describes heavy traffic on the access roads because of the crowds: do not go by car if you can avoid it; see Patong and Bangla Road.
  • Kata and Karon: more family-friendly, with bars and restaurants that join in; see Kata and Karon.
  • Old Town: calmer and more traditional; see Phuket Old Town.

The rules of the game

People splash water, sometimes white paste; do not target monks, elderly people, babies or motorcyclists, and never aim at the face from close range.
