Similan Islands liveaboard: prices, length, season and day-trip alternative (2026-2027)
A Similan liveaboard is a boat you sleep on to dive or snorkel at several distant sites. The national park is open from about 15 October to 15 May: the 2026-2027 season opened on 15 October 2026. Departures are mostly from Khao Lak (Thap Lamu pier), with Phuket pick-up possible depending on the operator. Allow about 13,900 baht per cabin for 2 days and 1 night with 7 dives (Similan and Koh Bon), national park fees extra, and 18,000 to 26,000 baht for 3 days and 9 dives. A 2-day snorkeling liveaboard starts around 10,400 to 11,500 baht.
Highlights

The dive boat at the Similans
Liveaboards moor near the sites overnight and chain the dives, including a night dive.
The sites beyond the day boat
Koh Bon (for divers with about 20 logged dives) and the Similans (about 10 dives). A liveaboard lets you dive early and late, away from the day-trip crowd.
The Similan beaches
Donald Duck Bay and white sand: see the Similan Islands.
Practical info
Tips
- National park fees are charged separately and sources differ: about 500 baht a day for foreigners (provisional), 900 baht on a 2-day package, up to US$80 with a longer-cruise operator. Confirm before paying. You need a certification and a number of logged dives. If you do not need to sleep on the boat, a Similan day trip is simpler and cheaper; to start, see the intro dive. Prices come from operator and resale sites, not an official site: confirm.
How to get there
Departure from Thap Lamu port near Khao Lak (about 120 km north of Phuket), or from Chalong for some operators; hotel pick-up in Phuket is often offered. See Khao Lak from Phuket and getting around Phuket.
