Samet Nangshe: the Phang Nga Bay viewpoint, sunrise and trip from Phuket
Samet Nangshe is a viewpoint in Phang Nga province, north of Phuket, overlooking the bay and its limestone pillars covered in mangrove. Sunrise is the most sought-after moment. Allow about 1 h 15 to 1 h 30 by road from Phuket (estimate, guides give varying figures): a half-day, or a full day with other stops. Local operators advertise about 2,000 to 2,500 baht per person with transfer.
Highlights

The bay at first light
Limestone islets rise from the bay and the mangrove. Early in the morning the light is soft and the site is least crowded.

The viewpoint terrace
A platform overlooks the bay. Photographers settle in before dawn; arrive early for a front-row spot.
Combined trips
Local tours often pair the viewpoint with a waterfall, a longtail ride in the mangrove or a glass walkway. For the bay seen from the sea, see Phang Nga Bay and the James Bond speedboat trip.

Tips
- Choose between sunrise (hotel pick-up around 4 am on dedicated tours) and a daytime visit, easier but with less atmospheric light. According to guides, the last climb is by pick-up truck from a car park, or on foot in 15 to 20 minutes: sources differ, ask on the spot. Self-driving is possible but the roads are steep; a driver is safer if you are not used to it. Bring water and closed shoes. No official site was consulted: prices and hours are from operators and guides, to be confirmed.
How to get there
About 1 h 15 to 1 h 30 by car north of Phuket, on the Phang Nga road (estimate). The simplest is a tour with transfer; otherwise a private taxi for the day or a rental car, see getting around Phuket.
