Laem Singh Beach in Phuket: access, swimming and current situation (2026 guide)

Updated on October 25, 2026

Laem Singh is a small beach between Surin and Kamala on Phuket's west coast, known for being much quieter than its neighbours, even in December and January. Be aware that access has changed. One guide says the path was closed in 2017 after a dispute with the landowner; a 2026 surf guide says normal access is blocked. The option most quoted today is a longtail boat from Surin, or a rocky path at low tide, which is tricky. Check locally before you set out.

Highlights

Laem Singh Beach

Laem Singh Beach

A sandy cove ringed by rocks, with very few people. No services on site according to guides: the beach restaurant was reportedly demolished.

Swimming and snorkeling

The north of the beach is cited for swimming and bodyboarding, the south, in the rocky area, for snorkeling. The water is clearest from November to March.

The longtail ride from Surin

This is the simplest way according to recent guides. Agree the price and the return time before boarding.

Practical info

Tips

  • Bring water, food and water shoes: there is nothing on site. If you use a steep staircase, think about the climb back. In the monsoon (April to October) the sea is rough: do not swim. For a beach with services nearby, see Surin or Kamala. For a safer outing at sea, a sunset catamaran cruise is a good alternative. The information comes from travel and surf guides, not an official site: access is the most uncertain part.

How to get there

On the west coast, between Surin (north) and Kamala (south), about 20 to 30 minutes by car from Patong (estimate). According to recent guides, the simplest way is a longtail from Surin beach; the old staircase path may be closed. See getting around Phuket.

Opening hours

Best: Morning, November to March
