Hours, heat and safety
- Run between 5:30 and 7:30 am, before the heat and the traffic, and avoid main roads between 11 am and 4 pm.
- Saphan Hin Park is busy in the morning and evening, but not recommended after 10 pm.
- On coastal roads, run facing traffic, wear visible clothing and carry water.
Races and clubs
The Nai Harn lake loop is the meeting point for runners in the south. An event like the Heartbreak Hill mini-marathon (20 September 2026) climbs from the lake towards Promthep Cape, a sign that the hill is serious. To stay in the area, see our guide to where to stay in south Phuket, Rawai and Nai Harn. On a rest day, a half-day guided tour of Phuket Old Town is a change from jogging.
