Zipline: the classic
Hanuman World runs several courses: a 4-line trial, up to 32 platforms with 16 ziplines, skywalk and meal for the fullest package. Listings disagree on the minimum age (4 or 6) and on the upper age limit, so confirm when you book. Our zipline and ATV comparison covers the other parks.
Diving and the sea
Phuket dive centres set the minimum age at 10 for both the intro dive and Junior Open Water. Ten and eleven-year-olds are limited to 12 metres and must dive with a professional or a certified parent. See the dive sites. For island trips read speedboat or big boat, and for adrenaline jet ski and parasailing. Water parks fill the rest days.
Where to stay with teenagers
Look for connecting rooms or an apartment, a pool big enough to swim in and easy access to food and the beach. Kids' clubs often stop around age 12: see family hotels. Patong has the nightlife teens want and parents may not; Kata and Karon are calmer.
Practical tips
- Book the zipline for the morning: cooler and quieter.
- Use water-resistant sunscreen and a rash vest on boat days.
- Check that travel insurance covers diving and motorised water sports.
- No scooters for a teen without a licence: it is illegal and usually uninsured.
