| Step | What to do | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| Accreditation | Look the hospital up in the JCI directory and with the HA Institute | Official JCI and HA sites |
| Dentists and doctors | Ask for the registration number with the Thai professional council | The relevant council and the clinic |
| Price | Get a detailed written quote | The clinic, with the date |
| Return | Ask in writing how long to wait before flying | Your own doctor |
Checking accreditation
Bangkok Hospital Phuket's site announces two accreditations (HA Thailand and JCI) with no date and states 200 beds. Bangkok Hospital Siriroj, known as Phuket International Hospital, announces a third JCI accreditation after a November 2019 survey, valid for three years: the date does not prove the status is current. Check the JCI directory and the hospital itself, and do the same for a dental clinic. We quote no price: the prices we read came from platforms, not from lists published by clinics; ask for a written, dated quote saying what it includes.
Services for foreign patients
According to Bangkok Hospital Phuket's site, the hospital offers interpreters, online payment, limousine transfers, coordination with international insurers and embassies, and a prayer room. Ask for these services in writing before you leave. For emergencies and pharmacies, see health in Phuket: hospital, pharmacy, emergencies.
Insurance, stay and return
Ask your insurer whether the planned treatment is covered: travel health and evacuation insurance does not necessarily cover a scheduled procedure. See travel insurance in Phuket. Plan a quiet place to stay near the provider and a margin before the flight home, whose length must come from your doctor; for a night before departure, see hotels near Phuket airport.
To compare Phuket hotels, open the Phuket list on Booking.com; for health and evacuation insurance, open the SafetyWing offer.
